Lent 2024: Bless our Mess

Connection & Reflection - feeling less alone and finding faith

The season of Lent is five Sundays/weeks and leads us into Holy Week, the story of Jesus' passion and resurrection at Easter (March 31). It's a traditional time to set apart and deepen faith, try a spiritual practice, or lean in to the special worship services and rich meaning of this season. Check out Pastor Brett's invitation video below explaining the season and our theme for the year!

This year together we're sharing the "Bless Our Mess" devotional which has a beautiful set of cards for each week including devotional guide, reflection/discussion questions to make you think and inspire conversation, and practices to try/challenge. Each week Pastor Brett will share a video devotion from the series so it's never something you have to do alone. You'll want to pick up the physical set which also includes candles and some other surprises through the season of Lent, but if you're not local, you can download a set here: instructions, digital version, and version for printingFor kids, pick up further resources in the entryway at church including special ones for Holy Week, and/or print this Lenten calendar for kids to color in each day.

On three Wednesday nights we'll gather in the fellowship hall for a simple soup/salad dinner, followed by Holden Evening Prayer, a beautiful reflective service of song (about 30 minutes) in the sanctuary and livestreamed. Click here for to sign-up for worship & meal volunteers!

Lent 2024 Invitation from Pastor Brett Wilson

Bless our mess - until spring arrives...

Video devotion for Ash Wednesday

Pastor Brett Wilson shares a video devotion for 2/14/24, Ash Wednesday, from Georgetown Lutheran Church. Learn more about the series and find further resources on this page - including downloading the devotional cards set, above.

Weekly Bible Study

Weekly Bible study on Zoom is every Thursday, 7:30-8:30!  Click here to join the Zoom - jump in any Thursday you can. Pastor Brett (or occasionally others) leads and we simply read and discuss - no homework, being "called on" - no prior experience necessary!

On the Thursdays of Lent (2/22-3/21) we'll read together Jesus' passion stories. We'll focus (as much as we ever "focus" - the Holy Spirit takes us all kind of ways) on how we feel about this tough story, characters and their development, and antisemitic interpretations.

What is Lent?
