Pastor Brett Wilson has been our called pastor since 2017 and loves serving alongside this unique, vibrant community!
Raised Lutheran in the Richmond, Virginia area, she attended William and Mary for undergraduate studies in Latin and education. After college, she taught Latin in the Richmond area, and has taught Latin and Greek to students from elementary to post-graduate level. As a part of campus ministry at W&M she began discerning a call to ordained ministry, as well as through teaching, other experiences, and work at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp. She attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and graduated in 2012. From 2012-2017 she served Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Pastor Brett rejoices that now several years as our pastor, has experienced many seasons of growth, change, and powerful faith transformation and ministry together with you at GLC. We've grown and changed together - and continue welcoming new folks and sending others on to grow in a new place where they're planted.
She also serves on the Metro-DC Synod Mission Table team, and on the board for the Georgetown Ministry Center and Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp. In previous years Pastor Brett has served as chaplain to the Candidacy Committee in the Virginia Synod, and on campus ministry review teams for the ELCA. She has served as keynote preacher/presenter in festival and ecumenical settings, and served as a retreat leader and chaplain. A contributing writer to ELCA worship publications, Pastor Brett feels passionate about our Lutheran faith and theology as communicated through worship, preaching, and teaching. She currently shares her sermons and blogs at widemercy.wordpress.com. She enjoys reading, being outdoors, languages, yoga, and travel.
