Some Georgetown Lutheran Church Facts
What does “Reconciling in Christ” mean?
Is GLC involved with the Community?
Georgetown Lutheran Church (GLC) endeavors to reach out to the community by preparing meals once a month for those in need; works extensively with the Georgetown Ministry Center in assisting the homeless with addictions and who are eager to find jobs and who desire a better life for themselves and their families.
When are Services, and what should I expect when I visit?
Services of Worship at GLC are always held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. This service is an hour in length and includes organ prelude & postludes, hymns, sermon, prayer and Holy Communion. Beginning Dec. 3 a half-hour service will begin at 8:30 a.m. featuring Holy Communion, prayer and a brief Bible study.
During the Advent Season (four weeks leading up to Christmas) & Lenten Season (six weeks leading up to Easter), Wednesday night services and light suppers are added to the service schedule.
What about your Pastor?
The Rev. Phillip A. Gaines, a State of Georgia native, has been the Pastor of GLC and volunteer chaplain at Georgetown University since 2000. He was ordained in 1996. Before his Call to ministry of Word and Sacrament, he was an advertising executive for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper; was a member of the Atlanta Chapter of Lutherans’ Concerned and served on the AIDS-Atlanta board of directors.
"Pastor G" is known for his personal preaching style, yet always according to the Gospel lesson of the day.
He enjoys playing “interpretive” piano music, golf, Washington Nationals & Atlanta Braves baseball games.
But most of all, he enjoys welcoming people to GLC. He invites you to please consider worshiping with us soon.
